Florida State Coordinator
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1957. I grew up on the west side of town just above the barrios of Albuquerque’s south valley. My family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 8th grade. I joined the Air Force, serving for 5 years as a Radar Repair technician. I met my wife to be, Leta, while stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa. Married in 1982. No kids, one dog. Worked as a defense contractor for Ford Aerospace in Area 51! (may explain a lot). Moved back to Tampa in 1984 going to the same church I got saved in. I’ve been there ever since. Leta is the organist and her brother is a pastor there. I’ve been in my dream job for 20 years being a Field Service Engineer for a medical device manufacturer working specifically on Puritan Bennett ventilators. I love my job!!
I got saved, March 17th, 1979 (St. Patrick’s Day) in my dorm room at MacDill AFB. Let’s just say God finally showed me that I was NOT a good person and I needed a Savior. Growing up in church laid a good foundation to know that I had to repent and turn the reins of my life over to Jesus.
While I had a desire to share my faith with others I was never really good at it until I got a chance to share the “Wordless Book” with Child Evangelism Fellowship at the Florida State Fair one year. Very similar concept to what FAITH Riders does at Daytona and Sturgis. I thrived in that environment and found that people really did respond to the Gospel when given a chance. We did that for many years even organizing shifts and training volunteers how to use the “Wordless Book”. It’s still my “go to” in a pinch.
I’ve ridden motorcycles since my Air Force days and in 2006 my church started a FAITH Rider chapter. I met some people I admired for their ability to share their faith and joined. Got a chance to go to Sturgis with FAITH Riders in 2008 and got hooked again. I discovered a world of spiritual warriors I looked up to and went “all in” with FAITH Riders feeling God had called me to this ministry after years of preparation. I had already learned through church softball that God could take those things I was passionate about and make a ministry out of it. Now I had an avenue to combine my love for Him and my love of motorcycles to share my faith.
